About

Tasks handles three kinds of work: persistent tasks that are always there, one-time tasks with a due date, and periodic tasks that come back daily, weekly or monthly. Each one can carry a description and belong to several categories at once. What makes it different is what happens on completion. A task can be worth an amount — positive as a reward, negative as a penalty — and that amount is written straight into a category in Budget. Tasks can also be timed: start the clock, pause it, and the reward is calculated from an hourly rate and the time you actually tracked. Everything is kept in a history of completions, and the same list is reachable from a public web page for your Apps Hub account.

What it does

  • Persistent, one-time and periodic tasks, with daily, weekly or monthly recurrence.
  • Several categories per task.
  • Due date and time, with overdue tasks marked.
  • One-shot completion, or a timer with start, pause, continue and stop.
  • Reward or penalty per completion — a fixed amount, or an hourly rate applied to the time tracked.
  • Discard tracked time when it should not count.
  • History of every completion.
  • Public web page for your Apps Hub account.

Integrations

Uses Budget App API

Pick a Budget category on a task and give it an amount. Completing the task pays that amount into the category — or takes it out, if the amount is negative. Timed tasks pay the hourly rate for the time actually tracked. Without Budget, the task still works; there is simply no reward.

Requires: Budget installed, and its App API enabled in Apps Hub → Settings → App APIs. The switch is off by default.
