Getting started

Requirements

mvmOS runs on Linux with systemd and Python 3.10 or later. It is a browser desktop served by a small Python service; it does not require Node.js, a build step, or a graphical Linux desktop on the server.

Install and first login

Install mvmOS on the server you control, open its URL in a browser, and sign in with a Linux account from that machine. The desktop session uses the permissions of that Linux user, so choose accounts deliberately.

First checks

• Open Settings and set language, regional preferences, and display options.
• Create a backup policy before adding important app data.
• Review SSH and user access before exposing the installation beyond a trusted network.
• Open App Store only after the Core installation is working as expected.
